Vineyard Notes
The 35-acre Brick Barn estate vineyard lies just north of the Santa Ynez River in a largely unexplored winegrowing corridor near the city of Buellton in the western Santa Ynez Valley. Here, persistent sun exposure ensures ripe flavors, while the Pacific Ocean—just 10 miles away—delivers daily cooling that maintains fruit acidity and structure. This 2020 Chardonnay comes from Block 5, which spans five acres. Here, sandy riverbed soils foster pure varietal character in our Chardonnay, while the reliable marine breezes help maintain vibrant acidity right through full maturity. Tight 6x3 vine spacing ensures that yields are kept in check for the sake of natural flavor intensity.
Winemaker Notes
Béton is the French word for concrete, reflecting the vision behind this wine: to create an elegant Chardonnay that displays the unique nuances gained from aging the wine exclusively in concrete. The grapes were harvested at night and pressed in the early morning. After cold settling, the juice was fermented in stainless steel over a period of 14 days. The new wine was then racked off the lees and aged for five months in a 900-gallon Nomblot concrete tank made from natural washed gravel, sand and well water. Concrete aging strikes a distinctive middle ground between stainless and oak, balancing impressive textures with fresh fruit character.
Other Notes
This special selection 2020 Chardonnay was aged exclusively in a premium 900-gallon concrete tank imported from France, imbuing the wine with intriguing minerality and a beautifully distinctive texture.

I am not a Chardonnay fan; but this changed my mind. Crisp with a smooth finish. This refreshing Chardonnay is perfect for summertime pool parties. This is a must serve during the warmth of the summer.

My absolute favorite Chardonnay! I had never really loved Chardonnay until I tried this wine and now I cannot get enough of it! The light and mineral flavor that the concrete gives the wine makes it a perfect wine for warm sunny weather. Try this wine and you won’t be disappointed!

Normally I stay away from Chardonnays. I am not a fan of most. This Chardonnay is an exception. I LOVE IT! I have purchased a few bottles, yes, that is how much I love this wine. It has transformed my views of what a Chardonnay can taste like and now it is one of my top white wines. This is the Chardonnay for people who don't like Chardonnay.

I am not a Chardonnay drinker but the Beton is a different class of Chard! It's crisp and light and refreshing and everything you wouldn't expect from a chardonnay. Its delightful and I highly recommend for anyone who wants to reintroduce themselves to Chardonnay!
