The 35-acre Brick Barn estate vineyard lies just north of the Santa Ynez River in a largely unexplored winegrowing corridor near the city of Buellton in the western Santa Ynez Valley. In contrast to our regular Grenache Rosé made from early-pick grapes, this wine was made from riper Grenache fruit harvested at 26.5° Brix on October 31. This allowed for a luscious mouthfeel while retaining a balance of fresh acidity. The fruit for this wine comes from Clone 513 at Block 15 and Clone 362 at Block 16. These two blocks are planted to an upper highland at an elevation of 550 feet. Here, rocky loam and limestone soils impart excellent fruit intensity, while the elevated location allows for ample sun exposure balanced by cooling ocean breezes.
